Heritage’s Sources of Strength will sponsor a Unified Eagles basketball game on February 19 in the HHS main gym at 6:00 pm.
Sources of Strength (SOS) is a national organization dedicated to spreading hope, help and strength to members of the community. A new strength is highlighted each month through various events. February marks the month of positive friends. Sources of Strength will team up with and support the Unified Eagles to show the positive friendship within the community.
“We are going to run a fundraiser and raffle during the game. All money donated will be given to the Unified team,” says SOS leader Scott Hackney ’20.
Students can win gift cards for local restaurants and various forms of SOS merchandise such as PopSockets in the raffle. Attending students will also be offered pizza and the opportunity to donate to the program during the halftime Miracle Minute.
The game’s goal is to spread awareness of Sources of Strength and their message. Students can attend free of cost. They can get involved with the program to support the team and Sources of Strength. If students do not have the time to get directly involved, they can support the program by spreading the word about SOS and its goals.
“[It’s about] just helping to spread the word of what Sources is and how we can best support each other as a community,” says Mrs. Abbott, co-sponsor of Sources of Strength.
