Orchestra has been working hard to prepare for their huge District Orchestra performance on November 19. All three of the LPS high schools attend this event. The schools each take turns hosting this event. This year Heritage High School will be hosting the district orchestra.
Erika Shiba’ 21 says “There is no need for an audition to be a part of this event.” Orchestra not needing to audition will allow around 200 students to appear in this event.
To prepare for the event, orchestra will rehearse on three different dates before the actual concert happens. This leaves time to build to perfection before the day of the concert.
According to the LPS Newsroom HHS’ Garren Cuthrell received CHBA Bill Thompson Band Director of the year award Mr. Cuthrell “goes above and beyond for his students, he goes out of his way to make students feel included and he makes them motivated to constantly improve” says the website. This is a very important quality to have as a band director and Heritage High School is honored to have such an amazing figure leading the musical instruments.
On the day of the concert, many friends and family gather together to watch the orchestra perform. After days of practice the performance will be perfected to its best. Tune in to see the orchestra in the Heritage High School theatre on November 19!
