Another Masters golf tournament has come to a close, marking the 78th year of the famous tournament at Augusta National Golf Course in Augusta, Georgia. Gerry Lestor Watson Jr., aka Bubba Watson, was the one putting on the green jacket on Sunday afternoon.
As soccer begins to grow in popularity, high school affiliated teams are losing players to the more competitive club system. Instead of playing two seasons, one with each team, players are having to choose whether to play for an academy or for their respected high schools.
The best offense is the best defense. The Seattle Seahawks are certainly proof of this famous maxim. After beating the Denver Broncos very handily, 43-8, the number one ranked defense in the league celebrate their victory to Super Bowl XLVIII.
Heritage is home to numerous sports and athletes. Inside the gym walls, the Unified Eagles, coaches, and student partners practice for their basketball games every Wednesday night.
The team practices every Tuesday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm in the Aux gym. The team has had two wins already in their season. They are lead by their six coaches: Mindy Wilson, Kyle Duggan, Kat Mackey, Ginny Youngkin, Kim Cuthbert and Kelli Glorso.
They have fingers of bats, legs like hydraulics and arms like apes. They cling like flies. They hang like sloths. They are Heritage Rock Climbing Club.
“A Little Party Never Killed Nobody,” and the Heritage Liberty Belles will certainly be celebrating after their 5A state championship win in the Jazz category.
The school administration sent out a letter to all the Heritage Football Families saying, “Mike Griebel is no longer coaching for Heritage High School. He has formally retired from his teaching career at the end of the current school year, as well.”
“I think it’s good to have team bonding like pre-season trips or camps that make everyone feel that they’re part of a larger community,” says Athletic Director Mr. Brock Becker.
Sam Chacon ‘14 and Mary Hinton ‘14 are ready to swim to state this year and lead their team in a strong season as the varsity captains.
After an emotional loss in the season opener to the Warriors in the annual rivalry battle, the Heritage boy’s basketball team rallied to a 53-46 win against Rocky Mountain. Despite the boys lack of age and experience the team is expecting nothing but a winning season.
