FCCLA stands for “Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.” Members compete in various events including culinary skills, child development knowledge, fashion design, cake decorating, sports medicine and interior design projects.

Sudan struggles through religious conflict

For the past three months, a civil war has over swept large areas of Sudan. The solders of northern Sudan have come into the southern part and have been stealing animals, killing people in the villages and burning homes. The main cause of the intense fighting is a rivalry between two major ethnic groups, the Dinkas and the Nuers.

Teens love their steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, junk food and flavored bottles of soda. Few teens love vegetables and fruit, and even fewer eat only vegetables and fruit for their diet. Being a vegetarian or vegan has become more and more popular in recent years. A vegetarian is a person who doesn’t eat any meat. That includes beef, pork, poultry and fish. Some teens use the word loosely and do eat chicken and fish.
