Preparing for PARCC

PARCC tests have replaced CSAP and TCAP testing as the standardized assessment for Colorado students and will be administered at Heritage on March 11-12 and April 29-30. The tests, which have been adopted by 12 states, will be a more effective measure of student knowledge and growth, according to the PARCC website.

Healy rocks the stock show

Lauren Healy ’15 has been riding to success with the Westernaires, most recently performing in the National Western Stock Show that took place in Denver in late January.

Cracking the code

On Monday, December 8, Heritage students were introduced to a whole new language: not Portuguese, not Greek, but computer code. As a part of Computer Science Education Week, an international project to involve more students in computer science, Heritage AP Computer Science classes hosted an “hour of code” event during fourth, fifth and sixth periods.

Keep cursive alive

Several months ago, surrounded by fellow high school juniors and seniors, I sat in an unfamiliar classroom for four long hours to take the SAT. But before we began the torturous test, each student was required to copy a statement in cursive verifying that he or she would not cheat.

Heritage Cross Country hits the ground running
