While students spend approximately three hours in the Student Center for the annual Back to School Dance, the teachers outside of the cafeteria are working hard to distribute tickets, check ID’s and collaborate together to make sure that the dance runs smoothly.
With the school year kicking off and the Heritage community once again getting into its usual groove, a number of new staff have added themselves to the Heritage population. Among them is Mr. Alejandro Tyler in the Math Department.
Ms. Lynn Marcilla is a go-getter. Before moving to Colorado and becoming the receptionist at Heritage, she lived in California and held many interesting positions.
From an early age, Christine Angelini has had a deep passion for helping others. Her extensive background in the field allows her to bring exciting ideas to the new position as the school Social Worker. With a teacher as quirky as Mr. Geoffry Brinker, Biology students have started the year off like no other.
Mr. Garren Cuthrell, who is taking over the instrumental music program at Heritage starting this year, shows this particular mark of success among many others.
Mrs. Amanda Mueller, a skier and mother of two, balances her schedule around Heritage High School helping students work towards a perfect attendance record and to be healthy individuals.
For Mr. Bill Stoddard, being a Heritage High School security guard sounded like the ideal job before retirement. After 32 years of being a police officer and fireman, he had delivered three babies on the job, acted in the Aviation division and cared and protected everyday people in need of a hero.
Heritage band students have had an ever-changing past four years. With Mr. Kevin Keena as Band Director until 2013, Mr. Jeff Helms from 2013 until 2015 and Mr. Garren Cuthrell starting this year, the program has been adjusting to leadership changes.
For the second year in a row, the Heritage Student Government hosted the 2015 Continental League Conference. On August 28th, over 300 students traveled to Denver First Church to learn how to be a better leader and impact their high schools.
